Less than a decade ago, energy-efficient passive houses migrated from Germany to New York City. Today they’re making waves in recent and upcoming developments, The New York Times reports.
“Large projects delivering hundreds of new passive units to market are in the works, and city officials are watching closely,” writes Times reporter Alison Gregor.
More developers, builders, and architects in the Big Apple are convinced that passive standards can now be achieved at little or no extra cost, and proponents are hopeful that building with passive-house rules will become the standard for new construction.
