A proposed amendment to energy efficiency codes in St. Louis county would reduce home energy efficiency below existing standards, St. Louis Public Radio reports.
It was the Missouri Sierra Club that raised the alarm about the proposal, but the Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri argues that the changes are needed to fit the demands of local buyers.
The Missouri Sierra Club proposes that the county adopt the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code, which would elevate energy efficiency but cost homebuyers in the area between $32,420 to $42,345 more, St. Louis Public Radio reports.
