This year, a New York architect announced plans to build a 2,400-square foot house (along with a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and carport) from a large military 3-D printer that will mix sand, dust, gravel, and magnesium for building blocks.
The estate, which will be completed in 2017, is one of Construction Dive’s eight coolest technology innovations of 2015. 3-D printing is a common theme of the list, as other entries include a printed home and car that transfer energy to each other, and a new 3-D printer that can create a 1,000-square foot building of any height in one day.
Also listed is a parking lot made of permeable concrete that absorbs more than 1,000 gallons of water in one minute.
