According to the American Housing Survey, the size of a house was the biggest factor in home buying in 2013.
Just over three-quarters of buyers cited size as being a reason they bought a house, ahead of room design/layout (74 percent), price (72 percent) and neighborhood (72 percent).
When split into new home buyers and first-time buyers, the results are a bit different. New home buyers valued layout/design the most (81 percent), while 80 percent of first-time buyers said that price was factor. The yard or view was the least listed reason for purchasing a home for both first-timers and new buyers.
