Many cities in Europe and Asia that predate the 19th century have quarters and neighborhoods with streets only 15-feet wide or less. One activist wants to bring that to the U.S.
According to Vox, Steve Dombek shared his plans of building 45,000 square feet of housing on San Francisco’s 68-foot McAllister street. This would eliminate parking space, and create two new streets, each to be shared with pedestrians and the occasional car.
Dombek argues that his plan can help solve San Francisco’s affordable housing crisis.
