A California cancer surgeon approached Klopf Architecture to upgrade an iconic yet dated midcentury-modern Eichler home into an energy-efficient modern masterpiece.
The team sensitively worked around the features and details that embody Eichler’s legacy, while meeting both the demands of the homeowner and those of California’s codes and standards.
The result is an open, light-filled home with seamless indoor-to-outdoor transition. The retrofit increased insulation, reducing the need for heating and eliminated the need to install a cooling system.
According to Architectural.com, the house exceeds California’s Title-24 and all of its lighting is LED.
