The term Passive House has been used by the energy-efficient home industry for some time. But what is the “Active House?”
According to Eco Watch, the Active House B10, a prefab home project constructed in Stuttgart, Germany, is a “great contender for a more sustainable future."
The modular home’s manufacturers designed the Active House to generate twice the amount of energy it needs through photovoltaic panels on the roof. The 970-square-foot home has smart-grid technology that is so efficient that it powers a pair of electric cars as well as a building in the Weissenhof Museum next door.
