Many of today's consumers demand energy efficient and healthier homes. That market demand joins more pressing issues - callbacks and warranty claims, defect liability suits, out-of-this-world insurance rates and mold and moisture problems - as reasons why building scientists and builders push for a whole-house systems approach to building new homes. Whole-house design and building looks at the house as a complete system, rather than a group of several unrelated parts and systems.

Building scientist and educator Mark LaLiberte hosts "Building Better Homes," a three-CD interactive training program that teaches users about the whole-house concept and then discusses in-depth how builders can change their construction, selling and organizational methods to align with a systems-built approach. It also offers builder interviews, viewable construction details, printable checklists and a thorough bibliography of additional building science resources.

Preview "Building Better Homes" online at www.buildingbetterhomes.com. The program, available at the Web site or by calling 866/727-7520, retails for $795.
